The Dalesmen
Male Voice Choir

Have you heard the Choir sing?
We all enjoy rehearsals and concerts so come along and just listen in.

The Choir is between 50 and 60 strong and is always on the lookout for new singers to join them.
A warm and friendly welcome is guaranteed.

You don't read music?
Don't worry, the majority of the Choir doesn't read music either, it is not a pre-requisite.

Do you sing to yourself in the bath?
Then you could become a valued Choir member
and we assure you that you will enjoy yourself.

What type of music do we sing?
The Choir's repertoire is extensive and includes sacred, secular, operatic, music from the shows and popular modern music. There is something for everyone.

How much time do I have to give?
Rehearsals are held each Monday evening (7.30pm to 9.30pm) and the Choir performs about 20 concerts per year.

What about travel?
Membership is not restricted to Wirksworth and many of our members travel from different parts of the area. We can nearly always arrange a lift for you.

What are the rules?
The rules are simple. Your voice must have broken and you must be no more than 120 years of age!

Will I have to give an audition?
No. We will place you in one of the four sections of the Choir according to your voice - 1st Tenor, 2nd Tenor, 1st Bass or 2nd Bass.

How much will it cost me?
The current subscription can be paid in monthly, quarterly or half-yearly instalments and works out at less than £2 per week.

Do I have to buy a uniform?
All uniform (with the exception of trousers, socks and shoes) is purchased from Choir funds.
