Andrew is married to Lesley and they have three children. He works in the Dental profession and enjoys salmon fishing and motor sport. He plays trumpet, cornet, piano and bass guitar. Most of his musical career has been with big bands and brass bands, both playing and conducting. He has played Cornet with Yorkshire Imperial Metals Band and has also performed with "Best of British Jazz" and the Hallé Orchestra. Andrew was the 1994 Midland Area 'E' Flat Cornet Champion. He studied performance on the Trumpet at the London College of Music under the guidance of Maurice Murphy, Lead Trumpet with the LSO, and Graham Walker, Great Britain Cornet Champion. Andrew then went on to study conducting of orchestra, choir and band at the Manchester Royal Northern College of Music. More recently he has been associated with choirs and
