Beaufort Male Choir
The tradition of choral music in Beaufort can be traced back to 1867 when concerts were reported in Barham Chapel school room and Bethesda Chapel; the tradition had continued over the years, interrupted only by the two World Wars .
By 1895 a male voice choir from Beaufort was winning eisteddfod competitions throughout Wales and their success culminated in winning the coveted first prize at the National Eisteddfod in Swansea in 1926. Contemporary accounts describe the tumultuous welcome the choir received on their return with conductor Randall Williams being carried shoulder-high through the streets from the railway station.
In the 1960s the choir decided to concentrate on concert work rather than competitions and over the years the choir has sung in Holland, Ireland, Germany and just about every corner of the UK from Kensington Palace to the Royal Albert Hall, from the Manoir aux Quatre Saisons ( Raymond Blanc's Oxford restaurant) to the Cardiff Millenium Centre. Guest artists at our concerts have included Alfie Boe, Hayley Westenra, Katy Treharne and Rhidian.
We are proud of our tradition; but we are equally proud of our wide ranging repertoire and the unique 'Beaufort Sound!'
